I fell into a dive last night, I was there on a dare,
Everyone there had served their time with no care to spare;
Ex convicts, cheap tricks, mean pricks, old hicks, just to name a few,
It was called the "Dreamland Inn", more like a nightmare come true.
I ordered a beer from the barkeep, and he started to laugh,
He said, "You're the only chump in this dump that doesn't need a bath";
I said, "So what, the beer's two bucks, and I'm as poor as sin",
I'm so alone I felt right at home as soon as I walked in.
Have you been to the Dreamland Inn, but truth be told;
It's a house of ill repute and sin so come in and out of the cold!
Dreamland!
I looked around at what I found as my eyes grew used to the dark,
A pretty Filly took a fancy to me, or so I thought;
She said, "Look mac, better watch your back and don't be a fool,
Just 'cause you walked in don't mean you'll walk out; this is a den of rubes".
I bought her a drink, she gave me a wink and hustled another John,
A B-girl working for the bar and grill, one of the oldest cons;
Although I was used, I was quite amused, a little happier, too,
This was the Dreamland Inn, where reality rings true.
Have you been to the Dreamland Inn, but truth be told;
It's a house of ill repute and sin so come in and out of the cold!
Dreamland!
This good ole boy, his shirt read "Roy", started talking trash,
I said, "I'm not the one who put you here, you're just acting brash."
He said that might constitute a fight, but eventually,
He said, "You called my bluff, I'm a little bit drunk, have a drink on me."
Sighing relief, and with belief, I realized,
I'm surrounded by real folks, despite broken lives;
No Hip-Hop, this was Honky-Tonk and the music was loud,
Mariachi Music, Western Swing, a swinging crowd!
Have you been to the Dreamland Inn, but truth be told;
It's a house of ill repute and sin so come in and out of the cold!
Dreamland!
