I fell into a dive last night, I was there on a dare, Everyone there had served their time with no care to spare; Ex convicts, cheap tricks, mean pricks, old hicks, just to name a few, It was called the "Dreamland Inn", more like a nightmare come true. I ordered a beer from the barkeep, and he started to laugh, He said, "You're the only chump in this dump that doesn't need a bath"; I said, "So what, the beer's two bucks, and I'm as poor as sin", I'm so alone I felt right at home as soon as I walked in. Have you been to the Dreamland Inn, but truth be told; It's a house of ill repute and sin so come in and out of the cold! Dreamland! I looked around at what I found as my eyes grew used to the dark, A pretty Filly took a fancy to me, or so I thought; She said, "Look mac, better watch your back and don't be a fool, Just 'cause you walked in don't mean you'll walk out; this is a den of rubes". I bought her a drink, she gave me a wink and hustled another John, A B-girl working for the bar and grill, one of the oldest cons; Although I was used, I was quite amused, a little happier, too, This was the Dreamland Inn, where reality rings true. Have you been to the Dreamland Inn, but truth be told; It's a house of ill repute and sin so come in and out of the cold! Dreamland! This good ole boy, his shirt read "Roy", started talking trash, I said, "I'm not the one who put you here, you're just acting brash." He said that might constitute a fight, but eventually, He said, "You called my bluff, I'm a little bit drunk, have a drink on me." Sighing relief, and with belief, I realized, I'm surrounded by real folks, despite broken lives; No Hip-Hop, this was Honky-Tonk and the music was loud, Mariachi Music, Western Swing, a swinging crowd! Have you been to the Dreamland Inn, but truth be told; It's a house of ill repute and sin so come in and out of the cold! Dreamland!

If depression creates the pearl, then I struck it rich, I keep my powder dry but I'm chafing at the bit; Life's not just a random roll of the dice, Either you play the part or you pay the price. I never been to jail 'cause I never been caught, A past, but no future, 'cause I never been bought; Because I never had anything to hang my hat on, You got to go along to get along and I never got along. My skies are getting darker, a storm is drawing near, There's lightning in my eyes and thunder in my ears; A cold wind cuts through me, chills me to the bone, There's no place I can go to 'cause there's no place like home. I coulda used some savin' when I had something to save, Now I'm SOL with one foot in the grave; I always seem to hitch my horse to the wrong post, But I'm not ready yet to give up the ghost. My skies are getting darker, a storm is drawing near, There's lightning in my eyes and thunder in my ears; A cold wind cuts through me, chills me to the bone, There's no place I can go to 'cause there's no place like home.

She's the Strawberry Blonde, I mean the Blonde Strawberry, A diamond in the rough, she casts her pearls before swine; Always on the make, pop tart flavored cherry, Her fate for a taste, a dime at a time. A scary schizophrenic with a yin yang yen, Everyday's a holiday; every night will last; Burning both ends from a never ending stem, Smoked Glass, go fast; how much can she blast? She's your sister, she's your mother, She's your daughter, she's your wife; She's your lover, just another, Precious part of your life. She sows what she reaps, she tends her rock garden, Wilting wildflower, conscientious neglect; Later, likely sooner, she'll hit rock bottom, Sad girl power from the smart and final set. She's the Strawberry Blonde, I mean the Blonde Strawberry, A diamond in the rough, she casts her pearls before swine; Always on the make, pop tart flavored cherry, Her fate for a taste, a dime at a time. She's your sister, she's your mother, She's your daughter, she's your wife; She's your lover, just another, Precious part of your life.

Can't Go On 03:05
I'm not saying I'm right, I'm not saying you're wrong; I don't want to fight, But this just can't go on. We're leading different lives, Together way too long; We're telling bigger lies, And we just can't go on. What we had, was before, What was, is no more; Our time has run it's course, And filled us with remorse. We're taking different roads, Singing different songs, We're carrying heavy loads, And this just can't go on. There's nothing more to say, In the morning I'll be gone; There's just no other way, We just can't go on. What we had, was before, What was, is no more; Our time has run it's course, And filled us with remorse. There's nothing more to say, In the morning I'll be gone; There's just no other way, We just can't go on.

Some folks think they are better than me, Think I'm good for nothin' and nothin's goin' for free; I got trouble on my side, I got a jinx that I can't hide; A dark cloud hangs over me, I'm the stranger at the party. My motives are always misconstrued, By parasitic critics who feed on misfortune, But nothin' but nice is never enough, To those who think they're tough; A case of mistaken identity, I'm the stranger at the party. I'm always on the outside lookin' in, No matter who or where I been; Some would like to show me the door, Some would like to show me the floor... I got a reputation I can't live down, A dead man walking in this dead town; But in time the cream will rise, Despite those with suspicious minds; My story precedes me, I'm the Stranger at the party. I'm always on the outside lookin' in, No matter who or where I been; Some would like to show me the door, Some would like to show me the floor... Some folks think they are better than me, Think I'm good for nothin' and nothin's goin' for free; I got trouble on my side, I got a jinx that I can't hide; A dark cloud hangs over me, I'm the stranger at the party.

What do you give the girl who has everything, Is there something that you can share? When she doesn't have a clue as to who you are, Even though you're always there. What do you give the girl that she really needs, Without seeming that you are in need? What can you give to show how much you really care, Without making your heart bleed? What can you say that won't turn her away, That won't make yourself unclear? What can you do to get your words through, Without sounding insincere? What can you tell the girl who's heard everything, The girl who's heard it all before? Is there anything that you can do or say to her, The perfect words she can't ignore? What can you say that won't turn her away, That won't make yourself unclear? What can you do to get your words through, Without sounding insincere? What do you give the girl who has everything, Is there something that you can share? When she doesn't have a clue as to who you are, Even though you're always there.

Number 9 04:31
The shadow of the valley on a dark dusty trail, Ahead is the desert, his past on his tail; Psilocybin sunset's a gleam in his eye, Is it time to change his name, or is it time to die? Oh help him Lord, one more time, This cat's had eight lives, he's on number nine. The map on his face shows that he's been around, From the salt of the earth, to the talk of the town; He's got a taste for poison, a touch of evil, too, He sold his soul for fool's gold and payment's past due. Oh help him Lord, one more time, This cat's had eight lives, he's on number nine. He's a counterclockwise guy but the big fix is in, Right from the get-go he was not meant to win; But time takes time, and time takes it's toll, The devil catches cold before he catches this soul. Oh help him Lord, one more time, This cat's had eight lives, he's on number nine. He slips through the cracks without a trace or a sound, Gets lost in the shuffle; a face in the crowd; Disappear when the end is near, nowhere around, Reappear when the coast is clear, new name and new town. Oh help him Lord, one more time, This cat's had eight lives, he's on number nine.

Hell's Below 03:41
It's got to burn, and you've got to fail, Then you've got to still want it; When there's no return and you just can't bail, And you've got to feel haunted. It's just a means to an end. It's just a question of when. In for a penny you're in for a pound, You're feeling lonely when there's no one around; There's no turning back when there's nowhere to go, That's why Heaven's above and Hell's below. You must be obsessed and like blinders on a horse, See only what's ahead; As if possessed and you scream 'til you're hoarse, Loud enough to wake the dead. It's just a means to an end. It's just a question of when. In for a penny you're in for a pound, You're feeling lonely when there's no one around; There's no turning back when there's nowhere to go, That's why Heaven's above and Hell's below. You take a fall as you take flight, As you reach for the sky; You give your all as you see the light, Sink or swim, do or die. It's just a means to an end. It's just a question of when. In for a penny you're in for a pound, You're feeling lonely when there's no one around; There's no turning back when there's nowhere to go, That's why Heaven's above and Hell's below.
